Hotels in Berlin

I visited Berlin 6 times, in any possible weather – summer, winter, during Christmas and more.

I love Berlin and usually I combine my visits with a good live concert (Depeche Mode, Coldplay and others).

I love using Skyscanner search engine to look for flights, which compares between the different airlines. Just pay attention to the currency.

Everything in Berlin is close and within reach. It has everything from history, night life, cafes and restaurants and to great shopping in an affordable price.

Which area to stay in Berlin?

This is a question I’ve been asked lots of times, so in which neighborhood should you really stay in Berlin?

I have a few recommended answers to this question.

In general, Berlin is divided into two sections – East and West Berlin which were separated by the known Berlin wall until 1989. Today, most of the main attractions, cafes and restaurants are located in East Berlin.

For a first time tourist in Berlin I would recommend a hotel in East Berlin area called MITTE, which is the center just like its name. This area in filled with attractions, history, cafes, shopping areas and all kinds of hotels.

I recommend on booking a hotel on the main street Friedrichstraße, Brandenburg Gate’s area, Checkpoint Charlie or Potsdamer Platz. The young tourists among us or for those that

visited Berlin in the past, I would suggest Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg neighborhoods, which are colorful, alternative and filled with clubs, art and cafes.

Hotels in Berlin

The price range of Berlin hotels are between 80 to 200 Euros per night for a couple, depending on the hotel’s type – location, stars level and of course the season.

The prices of Berlin hotels are usually doesn’t include breakfast, you can order it in addition. A personal recommendation – Berlin is filled with cafes and diners that serve cheap and delicious food. My suggestion is to arrive at the hotel, get your impression of the breakfast and its price and only then decide if you wish to add the breakfast.

Recommended hotels in Berlin:

3 stars hotels

A boutique, young and chic hotel is Hotel Amano. Note that it is a chain and has some branches.

The hotel is located in the Hakesher Market. A super central location with the most beautiful gardens, surrounded by small boutique cafes.

The hotel’s standard room might be a bit small for those who want a more spacious room. If this is the case, book an apartment type room. On the hotel’s roof there’s a bar with a panoramic view that looks over the television tower.

Titanic Comfort Mitte

A 3 stars hotel in a central location, with small room and therefore it is recommended to upgrade. A clean and modern hotel.

Moxy Berlin Ostbanhof

A 3 stars hotel at the nightlife’s area, suitable for young people with a low budget. The hotel has small rooms, the reception is connected to the bar where music plays all night long.

4 stars hotels

My personal favorite hotel Melia Berlin

For full review of the hotel go to the next article Melia Berlin

It doesn’t have a pool, but other than that it is just what I like and it is totally a five stars hotel. I visited Berlin seven times already, and return to this hotel over and over.

Its location is excellent on Friedrichstraße at the MITTE, the rooms are spacious and pleasant and right next to it you can find stations of an upper train, underground train, tram and busses. Despite the strategic location the room is isolated and quiet.

It has an indulging bed that in the winter has feathers down blankets. I usually upgrade for a room with river view and an entrance to the lounge.

The breakfast is indulging where you can ask for an egg however you like it and it is served while facing the river’s view.

I must mention that the WiFi in the hotel is a bit weak, as it is in all of Berlin, so I highly recommend on buying a local SIM card.

Another 4 stars hotel that is located near the  Melia Berlin

 Nh Collection Fridrichstrasse

This hotel has white, modern and renovated rooms, an excellent breakfast and another plus is a late check-out on Sundays subject to availability. There’s also the option of booking a room with a balcony.

An interesting and cool designed hotel that is located near the nightlife area is Nhow Berlin that is owned by the excellent NH chain.

The hotel is located on the Spree River. It is designed in a musical style and there are some rooms with instruments – Guitars, drums, etc. There also room with view to the river. It really is a unique hotel in its design and service..

5 Stars hotels

Adlon Kempinski

Remember Michael Jackson’s horrible photo as he held his baby son outside of a hotel’s window? So it was this hotel.A fancy hotel, looking over the Brandenburg Gate. This hotel

regularly hosts politicians, movie stars and more. It has fancy and elegant rooms as well as a Michelin restaurant at the hotel. This is a real treat!
I still haven’t slept there but it is certainly on my list!!

Eurostars Berlin

A five stars hotel with a small pool and an excellent location, near the Melia Berlin.

I also stayed at this hotel, it is very modern. I remember the beds that was extremely comfortable and the breakfast that was decent. The hotel also have rooms for three people for those

who need it. I received a room with a view to the hotel’s lobby so if you have any preference, check the type of room you will receive in advance

Hilton Berlin

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago. It has a great location, near the Gendarmenmarkt Square and if you are planning on vising during Christmas and visit the Christmas markets there’s one just next to it. The rooms were spacious and pleasant but a bit old-fashioned for my taste. The hotel’s rates, though, are very convenient when taking into consideration that it is a 5   stars hotel and it also has a pool.

Sofitel Berlin Gendarmenmarkt

Note that this chain has another hotel on the west, naturally I mean the hotel located at the Mitte. Sofitel chain is a luxurious and indulging chain. This hotel has a boutique style, luxurious and indulging at a central location.

Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin

A relatively new 5 stars hotel, extremely fancy with a Turkish Hammam and a sauna.

The rooms are very spacious and some have a small porch. Its location is very central and yet it is very quiet and suitable for couples.
