Hotels in Budapest

A year has past since I flew to Budapest to celebrate my 37th birthday, just me and my husband. I remembered Budapest as a beautiful city, but I didn’t remember it was THAT beautiful!! I like to search for flight using SkyScanner search engine. The weather on March was cold and fun, it wasn’t very rainy and most days were sunny. As you already know, the most important thing for me is to choose the hotel I want to stay in. I love hotels located in the center, indulging, with spacious rooms, cleans, that serves good breakfast, and of course that have good value for money. During the years in which I was a travel agent, I received a lot of positive feedbacks on many good hotels in the city, about which I will recommend to you. Although I saw Katy Perry in London, the videoclip of this amazing song was shot in the gorgeous city, Budapest.

I chose to stay in Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge. A 5 stars hotel, elegant, exists for many years, and most important in an excellent location! It is located in front of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge and Budapest Cathedral. The hotel is in walking distance from the main pedestrian shopping area of Váci Utca, as well as the Jewish nightlife neighborhood. I like to upgrade to a room with a view, especially the type of view I can’t see everyday from my home window. The difference is not that high, about 30 Euros per night, if I remember correctly. The hotel is very large and is not a boutique hotel, the rooms deco is quite outmoded to my taste but they are very clean. Breakfast was good, with a verity of food and indulging, and the view from the room was just amazing.

Basically, Budapest is divided by the Danube River Pest and Buda areas, when Buda is more mountainous.

Five stars hotels

Near Sofitel at the same perfect location, in front of the Danube River and in a short walking distance from Váci Utca, you will find the elegant five stars hotel, with spacious and renovated rooms, each with a view to the Danube River – Budapest Marriott Hotel.

Another hotel with many good feedbacks and great reviews, located in the city center, on Váci Utca pedestrian street. The hotel is elegant, with pleasant and spacious rooms, as well as a pool in the hotel. Of course, if you will choose to upgrade, you can get a room with a view to Budapest Ferris Wheel.

Mercure City Center – A four stars hotel that went through a massive renovation and rooms upgrade during the past year. Wonderful location on Váci Utca pedestrian street. An upgrade with entrance to the hotel’s lounge is available. All of the feedbacks were good and it received a high rank in value for money.

Some small recommendations…

A driver named Mickey was lovely and fair. Speaks English +36308466221.

If you like concerts like I do, as I always write – checkout who’s performing in the city. This is how we got the chance to see Enrique Iglesias’ concert in a funny price in front of the stage.

In one of the days we took a walk to Buda area. There you will find an incredible view of the city and the Danube River.

I highly recommend to stop and have Ruszeurm’s famous cremeschnitte.

Budapest… You are so beautiful even during winter and when it snows, especially in Christmas time.

Thank you, Ira for the photos.
